3. Can I compile programs written in C and C++? - Top

Yes, if the account you choose includes Telnet access. The standard gcc compiler is used.
4. How can I tell how many visits my web site gets? - Top

Every hosting account Includes FREE Wusage 7.0, a very powerful tool for graphically tracking visitors to your site. It provides you statistics on how long visitors were there, what pages they visited and the order in which they were visited. With the advanced logging feature activated it even captures what browsers are being used and how visitors found your site, regardless if it is through a search engine or another web site link.

6. Can I upgrade my account? - Top

Yes. You can upgrade your account at any time. If you are upgrading to an account with the same level of setup fees as your current account, you are not charged a setup fee for the upgrade. But if you are upgrading to an account with a higher level of setup fees than your current account, we only charge you the difference in the setup fees.

7. Do you maintain backups of my data? - Top

Yes. You web site directory is backed up daily on redundant hard drives.

 
8. Do you offer dial-up Internet access? - Top

No. We currently don't offer dial-up access.

Yes. You will be able to access your domain address with or without the "www" in front of the domain name. Example: Both http://www.your-name.com and http://your-name.com are acceptable.
11. What are your Network capabilities? - Top

Your web site will be hosted hosted on a fiber optic network connecting to the Internet through 1 OC3 and 3 redundant DS-3 multi-homed connections. 12. What Operating System and Server Software is being used? - Top

All server systems run on a customized version of RedHat, using the powerful Apache Web Server and Apache SSL Server for secure transactions.

 
 
13. Do you handle international orders? - Top

Yes. If you are interested in foreign domain name registrations, we provide you with useful resources to help link you to most registration services around the world.

 
14. Will Server Side Includes (SSI) work on your servers? - Top

Yes. SSI's will parse on any page ending in .sht or .shtml.

15. Can I add more disk space to my account? - Top

Yes. You may add additional disk space to your account by additionalspace@theviproom.com with your requirements. As a customer you are charged @ $0.15/1MB, and this must be purchased in 10MB increments.

16. What if I exceed my monthly transfer allowance? - Top

You will be notified by e-mail ahead of time allowing you enough time to choose from our numerous Traffic Upgrade Levels. For traffic usage in excess of your monthly allowance, you will be billed @ $12/month for every additional 1GB used. A permanent traffic upgrade will provide monthly additional savings. Depending on your choice, simply fill out and submit the online application form. It's that easy!

17. What is the cost for additional logins? - Top

The following are one-time setup fees:

  • POP @ $5.00/each
  • FTP/POP @ $10.00/each
  • Telnet/FTP/POP @ $20.00/each

18. Are third level domain names available? - Top

Yes. We can give you a third level domain name such as anyname.yourdomain.com. The biggest advantage here is that registration is not needed, therefore there are no registration fees involved. A third level domain would need to be a separate account type, or hosted within the Webmaster plan types.

19. Can I point additional domains to the same main page as my current domain? - Top

Yes. We can mirror your main web pages and mail system for a one time $25.00 setup fee for each additional domain. This is a great way to expand the marketing of your present business.

 
20. Can I subdivide my space and resell it? - Top

Yes. We allow you to create sub-directories, which you can use to offer friends or clients disk space under your main account, as long as it is within our policy guidelines. You can also request additional FTP Accounts with limited access to a specific directory for a small additional setup charge.

21. Do you offer Technical Support? - Top

Yes. We provide with you 3 options to immediately contact our Support Staff:

  1. 24/7 web-based Support Desk that allows us to directly take your questions

22. How long does it take to setup a new account? - Top

New accounts are setup between 24 and 48 hours from the time we receive your order. Once your account is setup, you will be e-mailed your Account Login information (User ID, Password & FTP hostname) along with some useful URLs to help you get started. You can immediately start uploading files to your new web site. Domain account users will be given a temporary URL to access their site via the web prior to the completion of either domain registration or domain modification.

23. Can I use my account for commercial purposes? - Top

Yes. You can use your account for commercial purposes. The World Wide Web has become the most efficient and cost-effective means of making information, products and services available to the users of the Internet community, and we provide our customers the necessary tools to develop a successful Internet business.

 
24. Will I have unlimited access to my site for updates? - Top

Yes. You have unlimited access via FTP 24 hours a day 365 days a year. As such, you can create and maintain your web pages on your own computer and upload files to your web site at your leisure.
 
25. How do I transfer files to my web site? - Top

Files must be transferred to the web server via File Transport Protocol (FTP). Internet providers such as AOL, CompuServe, and Prodigy may have a built-in FTP interface. If you need FTP, Telnet, mail, or other Internet software, visit www.download.com. Download.com is a source for the latest Internet applications with ratings and reviews to help you decide which application is best suited for your needs. Microsoft FrontPage users can "publish" their sites to their web directory server and should not use FTP.
26. Do I still get regular POP e-mail boxes when I have PlusRoamer II? - Top

Yes. Each account also comes with a number of regular POP accounts that will allow you to pickup e-mail with any standard e-mail program like Outlook, Netscape or Eudora.
 
27. What is PlusRoamer II? - Top

This is a commercial product for processing e-mail from
a web browser. This offers all the features of a regular e-mail program with the flexibility of being usable anywhere you have Internet access and a browser. Unlike other web-based systems we have incorporated other services that make this a full Internet portal.
